Our Charity Partnership

One of the most rewarding parts of starting a business is the creative control it affords. You are able to set a vision and then develop your very own brand & culture. Setting core principles and staying true to those values means keeping your integrity throughout the process.

Back in 2019, when we were trying to work out the big 'WHY' we had to make a choice; this industry is exponentially growing, with opportunities to give back at every part of the supply chain.

For us, it’s always been about community, collaboration, and good coffee.

What's the point of increased profits if you’re alone with a big bank balance? And why race to the finish-line, when nothing is ever truly 'finished'?

Contribute, collaborate, and have some fun at the same time. Bristol is our home, and we are very proud to be a part of it.  The simple gift of a warm 'hello' and a tasty cup of coffee in our little corner of the city is, in itself, enough. And a significant part of what helps us get up and keep going. But we have always wanted to be able to offer more.

Our community encompasses not just fellow business owners, our neighbours, or our customers, it is everyone, at every part of the social-economic level.

As with any city in the UK, homelessness is a sad reality for so many people here and we wanted to do something to help.

Our belief is that no one should have to compromise on good coffee and we keep our prices as competitive as possible as to not alienate those with smaller budgets. But what about those that can't afford coffee at all, or worse, don't even have a home to brew coffee in?

An estimated 95 million cups of coffee are drunk every day in the UK, and 65% is drunk at home.

For most coffee drinkers, preparing a cuppa in the morning is a ritual, a simple pleasure that starts your day. And as a small-batch coffee roaster, supplying retail coffee which is predominantly drunk at home, we felt we could utilise our brand and product to communicate the simple message;

within our community, within your community, there are people who need our help.

So, we’ve teamed up with Emmaus UK, who have been doing incredible work since 1991. They work to help formerly homeless people, providing them with support, a home for as long as they need it, as well as meaningful work experience and training in their social enterprises. They hope to provide a home to 1,100 people by 2025.

We believe we can - with your help - make sure they achieve this.

And so we’ve developed a bespoke product; a tasty, hand-roasted blend of Emmaus branded coffee. For every single bag sold through our website, via our retail partners, and our wholesale network, the cost of a filter coffee;

£1.50 will be donated directly to Emmaus UK.

We have also added the option to “donate a cup” to each and every purchase on our website too. Hopefully, this is our best collaboration yet - and it can really help.

Nothing tastes better than doing the right thing, and together, as a community, we can all contribute. Starting with one of the simplest of rituals; let's call it your 'morning motivation'…

How to get involved

Why not get yourself a bag of Morning Motivation, where £1.50 will be donated directly to Emmaus UK?

Or make a donation amount of your choosing that also goes directly to Emmaus UK?
